1. Master Of Education (M.Ed.)

    Duration: 1 academic year

    Student intake: 25

The purpose of the M.Ed. programme is to prepare learners for higher level functions in education who have a broad understanding of all the contemporary concerns of education. The purpose is to develop an educational leader with vision.

Curriculum: The department has adopted a new curriculum from 2006. This is based on U.G.C model curriculum. The curriculum consists of four parts.

The first part comprises of three foundation papers namely Philosophical & Sociological foundation of education, Psychological foundation of education and Methodology of Educational Research.

The second part comprises of special papers with require detailed in depth study of the area of specialization comprising two theory papers including a well articulated component of practical work. Special paper may be chosen out of specialization offered in fifteen areas.

Third part of the curriculum includes dissertation. The dissertation aimed at providing the student to try and apply knowledge & skills in solving the educational problem in a scientific way. The student will conduct  research study on selected educational problems and write research report.

The forth part comprises of internship. It is aimed at providing students the experience of working in teacher-training institutions and or schools. This enables them to put into practice ideas, theories, skills and competency acquired during the M.Ed. programme.

Evaluation pattern:

Evaluation pattern for the M.Ed. program is both external and internal. .External evaluation in summative form gets the weightage of 80 % and internal evaluation in formative form gets the weightage of 20%.

 2. Ph.D. Program in Education :

Being a Post Graduate department of Education, it is pursuing and fostering educational researches. At present following are the thrust areas for research at Ph.D. level:

Elementary Education

Community Empowerment

Protective discrimination in education

Focus groups in education

However topics from other relevant areas are also chosen by the students thus making the educational researches a complete spectrum of education

Admission:

Pre Registration Test (PRT) is conducted every year by the university for admission to the Ph.D program. Students who qualify PRT can apply for admission to the Ph.D program.
